Duke Theft Auto is a free-to-play standalone fanmade game that combines classic action franchises, Duke Nukem and Grand Theft Auto. In this game, you control the Duke as you wreak havoc on unsuspecting citizens. With maps that are taken from different GTA games, rendered similarly to Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World.

Instead of the dated top-down perspective used in the first Grand Theft Auto game, Duke Theft Auto adapts a 2.5D view that can be played from the first or third-person perspective. Other games in both franchises include Duke Nukem Manhattan Project and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Make Duke the number-one criminal

Right off the bat, Duke Theft Auto boasts a lot of features. From customizing your character model, audio, and video, to full controller support, it is a complete game on its own. However, instead of an entire story experience, you get to choose between episodes. On the plus side, it covers different games like Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto III and San Andreas from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

With that said, it doesn’t mean that you get to access these games’ full maps. Instead, you gain specific sections of these levels, which are remade with a striking resemblance. Visually, the games adapt retro 3D visuals. It is filled with vehicles and pedestrians, rendered in flat 2D models, which creates an authentic retro feel. It also features recorded voice lines from citizens.

On the plus side, the animation and collision can get buggy, as seen when vehicles stack and overlap with each other. Similarly, the same audio doesn’t apply to specific parts, such as phone calls. Also, while there are various episodes, they mostly last a couple of minutes. The playthrough is short, but it still works as a quick peek of what a GTA - Duke Nukem crossover looks like.
